ABOUT THE FIRM
Lawrence Page
Lawrence Page has practiced law since 1991: first in Chicago, Illinois, and since 2002 in Austin, Texas.
My practice concentrates in Family Law, General Litigation, and Appellate Law. I have also handled wills and probate matters as well as other general legal matters.
In my Family Law practice, I have represented a wide spectrum of individuals, from wealthy individuals in complex divorce matters to less litigious parties who are more interested in a quick and cost-efficient resolution than a long and costly battle. I have also represented parents in non-marital SAPCR suits ("Suits Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship"), alleged spouses in common-law marriage claims, Obligors and Obligees in Child Support Enforcement actions, and parents or children in various Child Protection (Abuse and Neglect) cases. During my time as a prosecutor in Chicago, I also represented the State of Illinois in several hundreds of Child Protection trials.
I previously practiced commercial litigation. I successfully represented a large group of hospitals in multi-million dollar arbitrations against major regional health insurer. I also defended several securities brokers in multi-million dollar "broker raiding" arbitrations, and served as the lead associate defending one of the defendant securities firms in the multi-billion dollar NASDAQ "Market-Maker" Antitrust Class Action regarding the NASDAQ practice of not trading in odd-eighths of a dollar: one of the largest antitrust cases ever brought by the U.S. Justice Department. I have also successfully represented groups of private investors in securities fraud and fiduciary duty actions arising from broker mismanagement of securities accounts, as well as the formation and operation of corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, or other business organizations.
To start my career, I served as a judicial law clerk for Justice Robert Steigmann of the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court. I also served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for several years in Chicago.
I grew up and lived in Chicago before moving to Austin in 2000 as founder and general counsel of a dot-com start-up. Outside of my legal practice, I enjoy cycling, swimming, playing guitar, building and fixing stuff, and coaching my son's Little League baseball team. I love jazz and blues music, and enthusiastically go to SXSW every year. I also have a wonderful and giddy American Foxhound/Brittany mix, Roscoe. I am a divorced Dad, myself, so I understand on a personal level the difficult and deeply-personal issues involved in my family law practice.
